Steven Soderbergh has finally broken his silence on The Hunt for Ben Solo, a rumored Star Wars spinoff that would see Adam Driver return to the galaxy far, far away.

The film is said to explore the untold years between Ben Solo’s Jedi training under Luke Skywalker and his transformation into Kylo Ren. Reportedly the project is a “psychological redemption thriller set against the ruins of the Republic.” His rumoured involvement quickly set social media ablaze with fans eager to imagine what his grounded, mature style could bring to the Star Wars universe.

Reports from GQ and SYFY Wire suggested that Soderbergh had been in active talks with Lucasfilm earlier this year, though no deal was finalised. The concept was rumoured to feature a smaller cast, new planets, and a darker, moodier tone, closer to Soderbergh’s roots than traditional space opera.

However, Disney and Lucasfilm have officially denied that the project is in active development. Despite that, a viral fan campaign titled #MakeTheBenSoloMovie has exploded across X (Twitter) and TikTok, Supporters have shared AI-generated concept art, mock trailers, and posters imagining what the film could look like under Soderbergh’s direction.

Even without studio backing, the campaign proves one thing fans aren’t ready to let Ben Solo’s story end just yet.
